Artists and Writers for the Ecozoic (AWE)

Thomas Berry writes of the dream of the Earth. In some sense the primordial universe dreamed the galaxies, the stars and the planets into being, and our planet Earth dreamed rivers, hills, oceans, plants, animals and humans into being. The task, Berry says, is not to ask what we want Earth to be, but what Earth wants us to be.

The artist feels those dreams as stirrings within. From some inner intuitive space artistic creativity is given birth. Ideas inform images, plays, music, stories drama. Drama, stories, music, images inform ideas . . . they move us to action . . . they inspire us and awaken compassion.

No great social movement proceeds on ideas alone. They are carried by the epic story told, the image that fires the imagination and shapes a destiny, the music that delights and becomes the song of a great cause, and the drama that brings understanding at the deepest level.

Aspiring artists and writers young and old need help along the way. There are those within CES who have published books and other works of art. They are available to assist and support those who are on their way.

This program area of CES is led by John Cock , Ellen LaConte , Ann Loomis , and Alice Loyd .
